Neha Miriam Kurian
Associate Fellow, Climate Policy
Neha Miriam Kurian is an Associate Fellow with the Climate Policy vertical, at the Sustainable Futures Collaborative. Her work at SFC cuts across different areas and explores the interactions between climate change policy and law. Specifically, her work focuses on designing and formulating a climate law for India and the States within the Union.
Neha was most recently affiliated with the Local Self Government Department of the Government of Kerala and the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA). She was leading their Legal Resource Centre for Local Governance for six years. During this period, she has been part of joint expert committees providing input on local level climate change action, disaster management and environmental law and governance to governmental bodies including the Kerala State Planning Board. She has also served as a National consultant with the Disasters and Conflicts team of the United Nations Environment Programme and prior to that with the Aarhus Convention Secretariat under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. She also has experience of practicing environmental law before the National Green Tribunal, at both the Principal and Southern Zone benches representing grassroot level communities and organisations from across India.
Neha holds an LLM In International Law from the Graduate Institute, Geneva, and a BA LLB (Hons) from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi.
