Senior Research Associate, Climate Policy

Simran is a Senior Research Associate in the Climate Policy vertical at the Sustainable Futures Collaborative. She works on emission-economy models, green industrial policy, and climate finance. She is interested in examining the sustainability of India’s net zero pathways, with a particular focus on renewable energy. Simran holds a joint PhD degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and the University of Queensland, Australia. Her PhD thesis assessed India’s renewable energy transition led by large scale solar deployment and examined the key social, economic, and political concerns underlying the same. Simran holds a master’s degree in development studies from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Delhi.
