Soutrik is a Research Associate in the Climate Policy vertical at Sustainable Futures Collaborative. His professional journey has spanned multiple organisations, where he has contributed in various capacities, focusing on climate action through policy ecosystem. He takes a specific interest in climate action as a way forward for structural transformations through socio-economic and political perspectives with a strong focus on equitable distributions and sustainable transitions. His current work includes carbon pricing, climate finance, and energy-economy modelling. Prior to SFC, he worked with Ernst & Young's Government and Public Sector consulting, collaborating with the MoEFCC and the Indian Ports Association on policy and programmatic initiatives, such as India’s upcoming carbon market, eco-labelling, national inventory management, and the green tugs & crafts transition program for ports. He also gained expertise in public and climate finance during his tenure at Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA), where he worked on carbon taxation, budgetary analysis, and supported the Government of Assam in Green Budgeting for FY 2024-25. He has worked with rural and urban communities through his engagement on projects such as eco tourism and climate resilient agriculture. With extensive experience engaging government agencies, private firms, think tanks, multilateral organisations and communities, Soutrik comes with a multi-stakeholder exposure in the policy-making space. He holds a Master’s degree in Development Policy, Planning and Practice from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Tuljapur, and a Bachelor’s degree in Science from St. Xavier’s College. His research contributions extend to projects with academic institutions like the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and Stanford University.
